Match Trivia

Davie Meiklejohn Benefit Match. Two thousand people defied the rain and attended Davie Meiklejohn’s benefit match at Ibrox. They were treated to as fine an exhibition as one could which to see. Rangers with but three of their ‘regulars’, were certainly not four goals inferior to Huddersfield Town, who nevertheless, thoroughly deserved their victory. Alex Jackson (2), Cook (2) and Brown notched the Englishmen’s goals; while D Kirkwood registered Rangers’ point. A feature was the magnificent display of Gray and Hamilton. The ex-St Mirren man was ever in the picture, tackling and clearing soundly. As a result, Alec Jackson, apart from scoring his two goals, was seldom seen. Young Gray excelled against an elusive left wing
