Match Trivia

Fine weather favoured the meeting of these clubs at Ibrox Park, Govan, fully 18,000 persons were present. At halftime the Hibernians led by 2 goals to 1. The Hibernian scored the first goal very easily, Bell making a poor attempt to save. The second goal was also due to Bell poor display. The Rangers made strenuous effort to reduce the gap, and a free kick 20 yards out gave them a chance. Marshall took the kick, and placed it so well that A Smith headed it into the net. The second half was stubbornly contested. Each side scored once, and the game ended in favour of the Hibernian by 3 goals to 2. The Rangers had two penalty kicks in the second half, but failed to take advantage of them.
