Match Trivia
At Ibrox Park, Govan estimated attendance 9000, drawings (gate and stands) £219. In the early stages the visitors were most prominent but it was the Rangers who first looked like scoring. De Meza saved one fine shot from Taylor, and ultimately May scored with a hard drive. Immediately following Dickson turned a good centre past Rennie, while Campbell again gave his side the lead with a short range shot. Before halftime the Hearts had got on level terms again, a misunderstanding between the backs allowing Cavan to get through and score. The opening play in the second half was very level, and if Bennett missed at one end, Sinclair was even more badly at fault at the other. For what appeared a fair tackle by Collins, Rangers were awarded a penalty, and Bennett scored, but shortly after Sinclair again equalised. In the closing minutes the game was very hotly contested, but eventually the Rangers got the winning goal, Campbell scoring with the goalkeeper away from his charge
