Match Trivia
Rangers won, but their manner of winning did not impress, and great improvement will require to be shown, if their place at the top of the League table is to be a permanent one. They were weak at back, none too good in the middle line, and for the most part deplorable forward. When that is said of the winners an idea can be gained of the quality of football served up. The strong wind was, of course responsible for a lot of the bad play, but present and prospective champions should surely be able to rise superior to conditions which could not be called abnormal. Ormonde, Logan, Hogg and Goodwin were best, while Hempsey, had no chance with the goals lost. And what about Hamilton Academicals? They had a chance of making history, and failed lamentably. Never at any time did they travel like possible winners, and even after they equalised in the second half the forwards never gave a glimpse of combined football. Watson, Waugh and Jarvie were best behind, and if McNeil was most prominent forward it was not because he was anything extraordinary
