Match Trivia
My summing-up is the same old story, Rangers, jerked into action, take over control and stay there. Dont let the result deceive you. The Light Blues were fortified with a couple of goals in hand from last week. This advantage made all the difference. For nearing the end, they had Accies in a vice-like grip, and scoring would have been done if necessary. Pity Accies didnt maintain the momentum of their opening half. Electric stuff, Dempsters beating Dawson in the very first run upfield was a grand start. And in twenty-four minutes, with loads of clever, neat soccer, they were sitting pretty with a 3-1 lead. Up until then, Rangers had been decidedly jittery. Usually, sure Woodburn kept tossing away chances. Bit it had to come and it did this Rangers steadying. The change emanated from Symon and Bolt. Enthusiasm spread to the fellows in front. A cloud lowered over Accies; they faded out. Same time young McIntosh came bounding into the limelight with rich football. For snap and raiding ability he was an artist. Little to be said of the second half, Rangers kept improving. Accies had fits and starts. Excitement departed when Morgan allowed a ball from McIntosh to run under his legs. Remaining counts were of little avail. Great forward play brought Rangers to the top. Smith was in his element feeding and watching his mates around him doing so many clever things. Accies menacing raider was ex-Celt Buchan. Davie Wilson was subdued. The defence took the rap later on dead tired, and no wonder. Newcomer Dougal played a quiet, watching game, took his goal in tidy style
