Rangers were on velvet against the Academicals at Ibrox. It took them 25 minutes to start scoring, but before the interval arrived, they were four goals in hand. Cunningham got the first by taking the ball before it touched the ground from a drooping centre by Morton; Henderson pushed home the second after Archibald and pushed through and, with a fierce drive, caused While to make only a partial save. As for the second half, Rangers, were not trying desperately, and the Academicals’ forward got more of a show and shaped quite well at times without, however, having much power in finishing. White had some anxious moments, and he deserves great credit for some clever saves. It was not a good day for Donnachie and McBean to make their debut for the Academicals, but I rather think they will improve the team. Little played a big-hearted game. He stopped Morton once or twice unfairly and experienced the folly of it by a free kick against him leading to one of the goals.
