Match Trivia

brought into play to get his men going, and he succeeded admirably, especially during the opening twenty minutes, when the Rangers were decidedly second beat. All, or nearly all, the dozen men behind did splendidly. Cringan and McMaster were untiring in their efforts, and Gilchrist, as clever as either colleague, was not far behind. Dixon, I place first of the Rangers’ trio; and Bowie next; and among the backs McNair took pride of place. ‘Old Alex’, who was almost uncannily anticipative at times, kept a tight grip of the elusive Doctor. Gordon took the Rangers out of several tight corners, and ‘Bert’ Manderson and Willie McStay could always be relied upon.
