Match Trivia
This tie was played off on the Rangers ground Kinning Park in presence of about 2000 spectators proved a very interesting game from start to finish and was by no means so one sided as many were led to expect ended as it did in favour of the home team by five goals to two. Falkirk scored a goal five minutes after the start. This woke up the Rangers and after some clever passing among the forwards too scored from a hard scrimmage. In five minutes afterwards McGregor earned a second goal for them. After this some fine back play was shown on both sides but one of the Rangers backs having missed his kick the Falkirk front division followed up the advantage with renewable pluck and out of a scrimmage one of their centre men scored a second goal making the game equal. Just before halftime however a grand run by Hamilton enabled the Glasgow club to obtain goal No3. In the last round the Rangers improved very much in their play and again and again attacked the Falkirk goal with great determination. Several corner-flag kicks fell to them but they were badly directed by Gossland and a lot of chances were missed but after a hard fight with the defenders half backs had ended in favour of McHardy and Inglis and the first named shook of Bulloch and sent the ball through. This gave the Rangers four goals to two and the rest of the contest was all fought in Falkirk territory the Rangers adding another goal before time was called and the ball was all but through the posts for a sixth time when play cased. The corner-flag kicking of the Rangers more particularly that of Gossland was the worst seen in a match on Kinning Park for a very long time. The general play of the team however was fine the dribbling being neat and even in front and the backs and halfbacks doing their work well. For the strangers the defence was excellent and at least two of their forwards showed splendid speed and tackling power
