Dundee disappointed at Ibrox, but it was far from the wash-out indicated by the score of 6-1 in Rangers favour. The wind was a big factor in the game, and Rangers took full advantage of it, while Dundee failed. Thats the story in a nutshell. It took Rangers, with the wide of course, exactly six minutes to get the first goal. Jimmy Gordon had two the first through a discreet pass to Archibald, who returned the compliment, with Gordon well placed, and the second one of Gordons own side-slipping feints past Nicol, and a nicely directed ball past Vallis. Dundees defence stood up manfully, while the forwards had some good runs, especially from Rawlings side, to be held up by the wind, plus Manderson and young Smith, who played a fine game at left back all through. Another goal came to Rangers before the interval. A corner, well placed by Archibald was headed in by Paterson. The score stood at 4-0 at half-time, and judging by the way Dundee had faced the wind, it was expected they would still put up a fight. And within five minutes they had reduced the leeway, Slade breaking through the defence and scoring a clever goal. That was really the last we saw of Dundee being dangerous. Rangers negotiated the wind much better, and although the subsequent two goals scored were simple enough they thoroughly deserved them. Both these goals were obtained in exactly the same manner. A corner, beautifully placed by Paterson, a header by James Bowie, and a goal. Tactics beat Dundee, whose best men were Raitt, Thomson, Nicol, Jackson, Rawlings and Slade. Vallis made a poor impression. Rangers have a good left back in Smith, while Manderson played well against the wind. Meiklejohn, Bowie, Gordon and Cairns were also good
