The final tie of the Exhibition competition was played on the sports ground last night in fine weather and before fully 10,000 spectators. Dundee were first to force the pace, and Fraser sent the ball past. Retaliating the Rangers forced Dundee on the defence, but nothing came of it. When next the Dundonians came away Fraser, who had been at fault with his crosses sent across a fine centre, which McFarlane turned to good purpose by scoring a fine goal, which beat Rennie all the way. Following this the Rangers showed up to better advantage, but their only reward was a fruitless corner. Not to be denied the Rangers playing the better football were soon again in close proximity to Crumley, and following a corner Livingstone equalised the game with a fine drive. After a long spell of play at midfield Dundee had a splendid chance of taking the lead, but the forwards muddled it when it came to scoring. Dundee had now a good grip of the game, and Fraser wound up a spell of attacking by sending across a fine centre, which Rennie in rushing out cleared. Shortly afterwards Dundee were awarded a penalty for Campbell upsetting Langlands when the latter had a goal at his mercy. Dainty took the kick, which Rennie glided over the bar. The corner brought nothing. Halftime – Rangers 1 goal: Dundee one goal. On the resumption Smith sent across a couple of fine centres, Crumley was lucky in clearing his charge. The game quietened down considerably after this with the ‘Light Blues’ doing most of the aggressive work, and the Dundee goal had narrow escapes, Crumley on one occasion being lucky in getting rid of a shot from Smith. Just on time Rangers were granted a penalty for G Chaplin handling. Crumley saved the kick. The game having ended in a draw the teams tossed for the medals and the Rangers won the spin, and thus secured possession of the gold medals. Result – Rangers one goal: Dundee one goal
