Match Trivia
Prompt to time the Dumbarton kicked off. They were soon making for McKenzie, but Smith spoiled their charge. The Rangers left wing obtained possession, and initiated a clever run. Barker shot, but McLeod cleared at the expense of a corner. The ball was placed behind. Keeping up the pressure the Rangers obtained a second corner, but nothing came of it. From a fine return by Miller, Bell and Taylor put in some clever work, but they could not get pass Mitchell and Drummond. A free kick against the Dumbarton twelve yards out was finely taken by Mitchell. He tipped the ball to McCreadie who scored the first goal for Rangers. After a brief visit to McKenzie, Dumbarton had again to go on the defensive. The Rangers were playing a grand forward game, and time after time they beat McMillan and Smith. After an exciting scrimmage in front of the Dumbarton custodian, the ball was passed out to Marshall, who sent in a shot, which completely baffled McLeod, and the Rangers were two up. Halftime result – Rangers 2 goals: Dumbarton 0: In the second half the Rangers had the best of it, and won by 4 goals to nil.
