Rangers played Dumbarton yesterday at Ibrox. The crowd was fifteen thousand, and Rangers got the points by 2-0. The ‘Sons’ put up quite a good show, but the feature of their play was the defence put up by their half-backs and Till at back. Rangers were never really in danger, but the sound goal-getting no easy matter. Cunningham got a goal as the first half neared its end, and Cairns another near the finish. Cunningham’s was a characteristic effort, a left-foot drive outside the twenty yards’ mark. Cairns’ score with a header from Archibald’s flag kick. Throughout it was a hard contest. For Dumbarton Till was great. Scott was the better half. McDiarmid and Browning made the better wing, with Walker a good leader. McCandless, by his clean kicking, won the Rangers crowd. Dixon was outstanding at half, and Forward Morton and Cunningham were the men who mattered
