The concluding stage of this competition was decided at Cathkin Park in presence of a fair attendance. Cowlairs were without Ingram of the Glasgow Perthshire, a junior of repute who was expected to don their colours. There was a fall of snow prior to the appearance of the teams, but it cleared up afterwards. The ground was extremely slippery, and the footing consequently insecure. The Rangers commenced with great dash, and during the first 15 minutes did a lot of pressing. Cowlairs were determined to keep the cup holders at bay at all hazards, and if their effort were not characteristic of the polish of their formidable opponenets, there was so far no doubt about their effectiveness. Duff, Harding and Maxwell were very smart in their returns, and any luck going was in favour of the Springburn men. In combination the Rangers were vastly superior, and in general tactics they likewise excelled. On the other hand, the Cowlairs when they got the chance of opening up the play, indulged in long wide passing, and rarely resorted to individual work. The Rangers backs Smith and Drummond were quite a match for the opposing attack, and at close quarters Edgar, Scott and Sharks were quite nonplussed. It was the distinguishing and most commendable feature of their play.
