Match Trivia

James Galt Benefit Match, Both Rangers and Clyde were represented almost entirely by reserve players, but a lot of clever play was shown, particularly by the young Ibrox forwards, who had they been a little more effective at goal, might have won the game. At the interval the Rangers were leading by a goal, scored by Yuille close in after Purves had saved from Parker. Booth equalised in the second half with a low shot, from a centre by Martin. The outstanding players on the Shawfield side were Purves, Gilligan, Wallace, Sharp and Martin. The latter, who came recently from Stranraer, showed a fine turn of speed, and centred accurately. Morrison, the half-back, was played at centre-forward, but did not show much adaptability for the position. For the rangers Craig played a nice game at left-back, his clean punting being a feature. All the half-backs did well, and of the forwards Paterson, Yuille and Brown were best.
