Match Trivia
From a Rangers standpoint, the best thing about the game at Ibrox was that they won. Clyde quite failed to come up to a standard of play which, without being at all brilliant, could have caused the home side a lot of trouble. It was a dull enough game, relieved chiefly by the few clipper-like shots by Henderson, who got both of the Rangers’ goals in the first half. The first was a beauty following a rare bit of closing passing between Cairns and Lawson, and the second though not so spectacular showed the quickness of Henderson to take advantage of an opponent’s mistakes; Cowan failed to clear, and Geroge H was on the ball in a twinkle. In a rally by the Clyde forwards, Reid fisted the ball, but Rae slammed the penalty kick breast high at Robb, who cleared. The second half was well advanced before we saw ginger put into the game. Following a free kick and a bit of a muddle in front of Robb, the ball was sent into the net by Culley. Then there was something of a dust-up. Henderson nearly scored again with a great long drive, which Shingleton just diverted upward against the under part of the bar and at the other end Brown and Culley had chances and finished poorly.
