Match Trivia
With Clyde at Ibrox there was only one goal in the initial half, and that was for Ranger4s. The game had only gone three minutes when Walls profited by good work from Archibald and Muirhead. He netted from twenty-five yards. Clyde put up a good fight against the wind, but Rangers frittered away scoring chances, and it cannot be said that the Light Blues, who were without Gordon and Dixon were impressive. Shingleton was the central figure in a stuffy defence, and his clearances were marked by anticipation and judgment. In the latter half Clyde claimed the bulk of the play, but simply squandered their chances of winning by inept attempts at finishing. Clyde carried no forwards of the class of Muirhead and Cairns, but they ought to have made good being up against a couple of backs who had principally speed and strength to commend them. Quinn was missed badly as the Shawfield leader. Neither side marked their score sheet in the latter half, and Rangers got through by Walls early goal. For Rangers, Lock was good, and Ritchie the stronger back, Bowie was the best half. Willie Reid failed to shine. For Clyde Shingleton, Cowan and McAndrew were great in defence, and the best of a moderate attack were Fleming, Morris and Thompson
