Match Trivia
The opening game at Ibrox Park, Govan took place last night between these teams. Unfortunately the weather was wretched, rain failing in torrents. Notwithstanding this the attendance was fair fully 3000 spectators being present. Losing the toss the Rangers kicked off towards the east goal. Play at once became fast, the Rangers having the best of it. After ten minutes play McPherson from a beautiful centre by Cullen scored the first goal for the Rangers. Five minutes later Marshall put on a second goal for the Light Blues, the ball going through off A Sawers foot. Nettled at those reverses the Clyde pulled themselves together, and made things warm for Haddow. Ultimately Lambie from a scrimmage scored their first goal. At halftime the result was Rangers 2 goals; Clyde 1 goal. The game which was restricted to two thirties, was resumed without losing any time. A corner for the Clyde proved fruitless. Some give-and-take play followed. Gradually the Rangers drew abreast, and Cullen getting possession executed a grand run along the right line. Passing at the right time to McPherson, that player cleverly added a third goal for the Rangers. From this till the close the play was even, but no further scoring was done. Result Rangers 3 goals; Clyde 1 goal
