Match Trivia
Great interest manifested in the first meeting for the season of these clubs in the League at Ibrox Park some 30,000 spectators putting in an appearance despite the inclement weather. The Celts started against the wind, which did not affect their play in the slightest. No aggressive were they in the first five minutes but from a free kick against N Smith, Stark scored against his own side. The Celts maintained the upper hand for a time the Rangers defence played very poorly, backs being especially weak. Gradually they improving their methods the Rangers forced the Celts back to their goal and from a corner given away by Battles, Neil scored. The visitors had slightly the better of their opponents till half-time, at which the score was unchanged. The second half saw the Rangers in much improved form, McFarlane being beaten at close quarters after a determined onslaught on his goal. The ground team continuing to play in good style would have added to their score but for Battles who tripped Hamilton when the latter was almost certain to have scored. The free kick was valueless to the Rangers. Five minutes from time Quinn scored after Livingstone had been unsuccessful with a good shot. Result A draw1 2 goals each
