Match Trivia
Alec Smith Benefit Match. These teams met at Ibrox Park last night in a friendly match for the benefit of Alex Smith of the Rangers. Celtic kicked off and after some even play Quinn shot into Dickie, who affected a brilliant stop. Hamilton for the Rangers was quite at home on the right wing, but his shooting was scarcely as accurate as usual. Bennett opened the scoring with a splendid oblique shot, after Dickie had partially saved from Hamilton. Rangers played up better after this reverse and Speedie equalised with a long shot, Adam having no chance. Celts had slightly the better of the play after this, but their forward were weak near goal, and the leading point fell to their opponents as the result of a good shot from Hamilton. Halftime – Rangers 2: Celtic 1. On resuming the Rangers improved and Adam was several times called upon, and cleverly saved his goal. Finlayson the Celtic centre was hurt in a collision with Smith, and left the field, but his absence made no appreciable difference in the play of the Parkhead team, who ultimately equalised through Philip Watson. For the Rangers Smith, Hamilton and Walker excelled, and for the Celtic the two Watson’s and Graham shone, Result – Rangers 2 goals: Celtic 2 goals
