Match Trivia
This tie was replayed at Ibrox in splendid weather before 30,000 spectators. Rangers played Drummond for Crawford, this being the only alteration from the teams, which played at Parkhead last week. The Rangers at once settled down and McArthur was thrice called upon, one shot from Hamilton being greatly saved. After a long spell of fruitless pressing, McMahon brought the ball well down the field, and pass to Findlay who shot behind. Clever tackling on the part of Gibson let Campbell away on several occasions and he taxed all McArthur resource to keep out the accurate shots from the Rangers front rank. At length Hamilton scored a some what soft goal, but Campbell equalised four minutes, and shortly afterwards took the lead through clever wing play by Campbell and McMahon. Half-time Celtic 2 goals; Rangers 1 goal. Hamilton through immediately on resuming and then McArthur was stunned in saving. A third goal fell to the Rangers from Hamilton and a fourth came from a free kick well taken by Drummond. Up to this point the home team was home team had done the bulk of the pressing, but the Celts now came away and with three minutes to go, Findlay scored their third goal. The Rangers were startled by this unexpected turn of events and resorted to kicking out on every occasion. Still pressing the Celts had very hard lines near the finish, as McMahon in the last seconds of the game failed to equalise by inches only. Except for the last ten minutes the Rangers were the better team and thoroughly deserved their victory
