A second attempt was made on Saturday to settle the destiny of the Glasgow Football Associations trophy. Unfortunately, while the weather was dry and the ground in good condition, a heavy fog prevailed and in spite of this the teams were asked to play a tie. The fog was so dense that it was impossible to see from goal to goal. At the start the attendance numbered only about 4000. The Rangers played the same eleven who did duty last Saturday, but the Celts made a couple of changes, Divers and Turnbull taking the places of Campbell and Welford respectively. Cathkin Park was the venue of the tie. Celts kicked off and worked the ball down to Dickie, who had charge of the south goal, where the fog prevented the players movements being seen. A lofty kick, presumably by one of the Rangers rear ranks, transferred play to the pavilion goal, where the Celts were called upon to lay all they knew to keep their opponents from scoring. Hamilton played a much better game than he did last Saturday, and repeatedly tried McArthur, who was in fine form. The Celts again got down to Dickie, where a penalty kick was granted them, and which they failed to score from. Shortly afterwards the Rangers were awarded a similar kick, and Hamilton netted the ball. Thereafter the Celts wee seldom away from their own district, and thanks to their plucky defence the score was not increased when halftime was called. All over the Rangers this half were masters of the situation, with magic like forward work, faultless halfbacks fielding, and excellent back play. They were value for their halftime lead.
