The Celta had to face the wind and sun in the first half; still they were more dangerous when near goal than the Rangers. Adams was early called upon, but saved cleverly. A breakaway by the Celts ended in Somers scoring from a centre by Quinn. The Rangers were not long in equalising the ball being scrimmaged through. Again the Celts broke away, and Murray beat Dickie. The Rangers tried in vain to get on equal terms. Halftime – Celtic 2 goals Rangers 1 goal. With the aid of the wind the visitors pressed on surrounding and Dickie had some anxious moments. The Celts on the whole however shot badly. After being on the defensive for fully 15 minutes the Rangers broke away and sent in five shots in quick succession from the last of which Adams was beaten. The Celts held the upper hand to the end, but failed to add the their score, and the Rangers were lucky in retiring on equal terms as regards goals. Result – A draw 2 goals each
