Match Trivia

Dunoon Festival. Rangers and Celtic played a match yesterday at the Recreation Park Dunoon in connection with the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the burgh. The proceeds were in aid of the local Cottage Hospital and Nursing Association. On arrival at the pier in the afternoon, the teams were met by pipers and were included among the guests at a civic luncheon held in the Pavilion. The match was favoured with delightful weather conditions and there were fully 5000 spectators. Rangers were the more lively lot in the first half, and goals were scored by Lockie (2) and McMillan. These were mainly the good work by Hair, who was prominent on the rangers right. Rangers restarted strongly but later on Celtic were more in evidence and had several good tries, but T Hamilton saved well. After the match prizes were handed over to the winners and souvenirs to the losers by Mrs Turner wife of Provost Turner
