Match Trivia
In bright weather these clubs met on Ibrox Park on Saturday in their tie in the third round of the Scottish Cup. Starting against what little wind there was Rangers early forced Beith to defend, and in the first few minutes Alex Smith had the ball netted, but a free kick having been awarded the point went for nothing. Beith through their left wing pair Anderson and Walker had a slight look in, but at close quarters they shot badly. From a long shot by McEwan Rangers opened their score as Chalmers rushed in and netted ere Higgins could get the ball away. Kyle being well fed by Chalmers had little difficulty in again beating the Beith custodian, and when shortly afterwards he repeated this feat it looked all over for Beith. Rangers took matters easy after this third success, but just on the call of halftime Speedie added a fourth. On resuming Beith showed slight improvements but still their work close in was of the weakness, and Sinclair had a comparatively easy time of it. After Speedie had again beaten Higgins, Beith broke away, and scored through Walker, the visitors finishing with 10 men, as Cameron has been ordered off. Result Rangers 5: Beith 1. The gate amounted to £144, and stands £15 17s 3d
