Match Trivia
These teams met at Kinning Park last night. The weather was pleasant, and there were a good number of spectators present. The Rangers kicked off and during the first five minutes pressed their opponents hard, but their shooting was erratic. Ultimately the strangers had a chance carrying the ball up to goal by good combined passing, but the final effort was wide of the mark. Immediately after this the ‘light blues’ had a fine run the whole length of the field, and a well directed shot by Campbell on the right took effect. After some give-and-take play the Rangers secured a corner, but nothing came of it. Following this a corner fell to the Battlefield, and the ball being well placed it was forced through the goal, thus equalising matters. About the call of halftime the home team had three corners in succession, but all their efforts to score were fruitless, and when ends were changed each side had a point. The second half was determinedly contested and towards the close the Rangers had if anything the best of the game. Neither side scored however and a keenly contested match thus resulted in a draw-one goal each. The back divisions of both elevens played a capital game and Cameron at halfback showed excellent form for the Rangers.
