Match Trivia

Played at Ibrox Park, Govan before about 1000 spectators. Neither team was up to full strength, the Rangers especially being weakly represented. Before the start it was agreed to play only two thirty-fives. Battlefield lost the toss, and Brown kicked off. The Rangers were first to press, Henderson and Ross being prominent. Sclanders stopped the progress, however and transferred play to the other end. Walton sent the ball behind. The Rangers came away again, and McPherson tried a shot, which just missed by inches. Still the Rangers continued to press, and ultimately their efforts were rewarded by Henderson scoring the first goal. Even play followed till the Rangers came away again, but all they got was a fruitless corner. The Battlefield next had a look in, and but for the good defence of Scott, Dunbar, and Haddow they would have scored. Halftime sounded with the result – Rangers 1 goal: Battlefield 0. The result was a draw – 2 goals each.
