The Rangers played yesterday afternoon a friendly match in their ground at Kinning Park against the Aston Villa, the leading club of the Birmingham Association. The home team won the toss and played with a slight breeze at their back. They had much the better of the play and scored three goals in the first half. In the second Aston Villa played well at first and second a goal but towards the end fell away and lost four goals. The Rangers thus won the match by seven goals to one. They put the ball through eight times but one was disallowed. There was a large number of spectators. The Birmingham team was the same as that which defeated the Heart of Midlothian on Saturday by six goals to two and it was through that they would have given a better account of themselves, but with the exception of the first quarter of an hour in the second period they were hard pressed. The Rangers on the other hand showed their old brilliant form. There was only one chance in their team Corbett taking the place of Moses McNeil who was hurt in the hurt in the match against the Dumbarton. In the last quarter of an hour during when they scored three goals their passing was perfect and the veteran Harry McNeil was at times as good as in his Hampden days.
