Match Trivia
You couldnt expect high explosives or dynamite with neither team having a position to fight for. Rangers couldnt go any higher, Albion Rovers couldnt drop lower. Rangers were a bit easy-going, although they were out to win right enough. The forward, however, were not getting the proper clip into their passing. Some of the misdirected transfer caused more merriment than groans. The spectators were not going to be too critical of a team that had already won a twenty-third championship. In the rear, Rangers made up for the shortcomings of the men in front, and I may tell you that the Rovers forwards did their level best to get one past Dawson, which they very nearly did. But Jerry was all there with his vice-like clutch. I always think that opposing forwards must let the notion waft through their minds that hes awfu hard to beat, that yin. Lets hope England forwards will be telling one another that at 4.45 next Saturday. Gray got the cheers for some crafty disentanglements from tight positions, and he appeared to enjoy doing it. McDonald had a good match, too and as both Simpson and Brown came through unscathed, the selectors will have something to say about them, no doubt. Kennedys strength tod in the tackle, and he pushed through some good passes. Rovers defence could take it. They were usually in position for what was coming, and the fact that the only goal surrendered was from a penalty kick converted by McPhail tells its own tale, doesnt it? Had the forwards been a bit snappier with the shot a point might have been collected, though it did not matter one way or the other. I hope to see the Robers back up after a season
