Match Trivia

At Ibrox Park last night, in wet and stormy weather, and before 12,000 spectators. In the first half Airdrieonians with the advantage of a strong wind, were the more aggressive side, and 20 minutes after the start they opened the scoring, McLean scoring with a good shot following a corner kick. One minute later Rangers equalised, Cairns scoring from short range after a free kick. Subsequently Airdrieonians had the better of the play, but no further scoring took place. Rangers were seen to more advantage in the second half, but it was only Cunningham headed the second goal that they asserted their superiority. Playing with great confidence they added two more goals. Archibald from a pass by Cunningham and Cairns netting. Morton early in this half met with a leg injury and afterwards was of little service to his side. Alan Morton first game for Rangers, he retired injured after been taken off three times
