Match Trivia
The northern team made their first city appearance as First Leaguers at Ibrox Park. Rain fell heavily throughout the game rendering the pitch heavy and treacherous. Playing with the wind, the visitor’s forwards quickly fell into line, and Sinclair who was at first none too well supported by his backs was early called upon. The home team gradually get set a going, and a very even game ensured. On several occasions McColl had grand tries for goal, which were frustrated by equally grand work by McFarlane. Both sets of forwards occasionally executed good runs on the soft ground, but the respective goalkeepers proved equal to all demands till halftime. Halftime – No scoring. The Rangers forced the pace at the resumption, and more than one good shot just missed taking effect through being a trifle wide of the mark. Lennie and McNicol gave endless trouble to the Rangers backs, but the latter improved immensely as the game went on, and Sinclair was only occasionally tested. Close on time McMillan bet McFarlane from a centre by Smith. The visitors stove hard to equalise, but in vain. Result – Rangers 1 goal: Aberdeen 0. Drawings £235
