Match Trivia

Raith Rovers did not deserve to be beaten 4 goals to 1 by Rangers. The Rovers played surprisingly well, until near the close had their fare share of the outfield play. In fact, Hempsey had a deal more to do than Neish, but the Ibrox keeper was the safer. Archibald gave Raith the first goal with the finest effort of the afternoon. Then Neish let slip past him a long shot from Riddell, and another of the same from Archibald. Raith held their opponents for almost half an hour after the interval, but when Bennett scored Ibrox were masters. Archibald added a fourth goal. Rangers were well served by their defence, Hempsey clearing in fine style. Law was the pick of the half-backs, and Cairns and Archibald formed the best wing afield. Neish was a bit rusty in the Kirkcaldy goal, but Muir at back was a tower of strength. Forrest did not play up the expectations at Centre half-back, and the inside position forward were indifferently filled by Wilson and Hope
