Match Trivia
Raith Rovers covered themselves with glory in the yes of their supporters by defeating Rangers at Stark’s Park. It was their first win over the ‘Light Blues’ in the ‘Lang Toon,’ and it was thoroughly merited on play. Fort he first fifteen or twenty minutes Rangers were the more thrustful side, but after Raith had got into their stride and opened the scoring through Jennings midway in the first half, the visitors deteriorated, and had to play second fiddle to the end. Fifteen minutes from the resumption Jennings got a second goal and completed the scoring. Raith have not played a finer game this season. From goal out they were strong, the forwards striking form of a high order, and proving themselves a constant source of worry to the opposition. On the right wing the partnership of Bell and miller was very attractive, and the finishing of the former was always dangerous. James and Archibald were equally happy on the left, exhibiting all the tricks of the trade in their work. But what was most pleasing to the Kirkcaldy people was the recovery in form shown by Jennings. His distribution was exceedingly fine, and his first goal was a masterpiece. The Rangers’ attack was, on the day’s showing disappointing. Only Archibald and Morton played to reputation, and they were unfortunate with some of their finishing efforts. In the intermediate line Nicholson was the strong man, getting through a power of work in great style, but Meiklejohn and Dixon were not far behind. The backs were very reliable, and Robb could not be blamed for either of the goals.
