Match Trivia
At Hampden Park, where there were 10,000 spectators, the Rangers combined ever so much better than the Amateurs, who were spirited but spasmodic and disjointed for forty minutes they defended stoutly against a strong breeze and a hot attack. Latterly after C Duncan had been baulked by the bar, and Fed Gray had banged an upright, a hot shot from Rutherford heat H Duncan, who had previously saved splendidly from the Rugby Park player. Gray got a second goal, and then a slip by Pursell allowed Walker to reduce the leeway. C Duncan scored two goals within fifteen minutes after the cross over, and settled the match. Alan Morton gave Lock a fright right at the start and tingled his fingers later, while a shot by McDiarmid, which got over Lock’s guard, came out off the bar. Otherwise the ‘Q P’ attack was feeble. Thorpe, Barry and Cowan were best of their defence. Manderson, Bowie, Lawson and Rutherford were prominent for Rangers
