The dependable Porrini was one of several Italians to join Rangers in the summer of 1997.
A Champions League winner with Juventus, Walter Smith paid £4M to bring the no nonsense defender to Ibrox.
Porrini would remain at the Club under Dick Advocaat and played a major part in Rangers securing 5 out of 6 domestic trophies during the Dutchman’s first two seasons in Glasgow.
A consummate professional who quietly went about his business.
