Match Trivia
Played at Pollock Park the Rangers started the game with 10 men Hamilton being late on turning up. With the hill and wind in their favour they kept their opponents well in hand but the breeze spoiled a great number of their shots however Heggie, Duncan, Gossland and Thomson all scored before halftime. During this period McCallum of the Shields had to retire having met with an accident. After halftime the Rangers still maintained their superiority and although Tuner managed to score for the Shields from a free kick, Heggie and Thomson were instrumental in putting 3 goals to the credit of the Rangers one of wish was disallowed. The Rangers thus won by 6 goals to one. The winners played well together and it would be unfair to single out anyone for special praise. For the Shields Halliday, Stewart (who took JW Holm place) played a splendid defensive game and saved his side from a greater defeat P McQunie halfback and ‘Woody’ Gray, Frank Shaw and Turner shone best of the forwards
