Match Trivia
Played at Meadowside, Partick before about 9000 spectators. The Rangers were a bit blow full strength, both Neil and Hamilton being on the injured list, but the substitutes were supported to be capable of filling the vacancies with success. The first half was evenly contested any advantage that prevailed being in favour of the Thistle, who played a strong energetic game throughout, and with a little luck should have scored. Smith beat Wilkie once, but he put the ball through with his hands, so the point did not count. Haltime – no goals. Early in the second half the Rangers put in some good work, and Smith opened the scoring in five minutes, Wilkie making a splendid effort to save. Hyslop shortly after equalised with a shot which Dickie had no chance to save. Even play followed, but the Rangers showed more coolness, and Cameron five minutes from the close, put on the Rangers second and winning goal. The game was remarkable for the splendid goalkeeping on both sides. Result – Rangers 2 goals: Partick Thistle 1 goal.
