Match Trivia
These teams met at Partick before 10,000 spectators. Rangers were favoured with a strong breeze, and breaking away from the kick-off, Kyle opened the scoring. Before the Thistle got steady again Hamilton finished a dashing run by beating Howden a second time. A few minutes later Massey, while being tackled by Robertson, his arm being badly fractured. Soon afterwards Hamilton again scored for Rangers, and for the remained of first half Thistle were seldom across midfield. Half-time :- Rangers three; Partick Thistle nothing. With the change of ends Thistle gave an improving display, and from a well-placed corner Harvey beat Sinclair for the first time. A second attempt by Sommen was just scraped clear, while Gibson missed by inches. The wind had of course, a good deal to do with this change in the play, but on the other hand Thistle were handicapped through Massey’s absence. Towards the close the home forwards had several promising runs, but failed to score, and Robertson, with practically the last kick, put Rangers four up. Result :- Rangers four; Thistle one
