Match Trivia
At Meadowside, Partick last night before about 2000 spectators, The Thistle were without Collier, but Campbell, a Whiteinch amateur. The opening stages were well contested, McDougall shooting wide, while at the other end Hyslop skimmed the crossbar. The Thistle came again, and Drummond gave away a corner to stave off Campbell. After eight minutes play J Miller opened the scoring for the Rangers rather easily. The Thistle were quite holding their own, and most of the play was in the Rangers half. Several corners were gained, and when Paul looked like scoring Crawford nipped the ball away from his toe. The Rangers were soon on the move again, and Sharp, Wilkie and McPherson shot unsuccessfully. McDonald then gave away a corner, which was cleared. Pretty play by Campbell and Freebairn made an opening for Paul but Howden cleared at the expense of a corner. The Ibrox men were now forcing matters, and Sharp scored. Halftime – Rangers 2: Thistle 0. On restarting play settled in midfield. The Rangers got away, and McDonald returned a shot from Dunlop. The home team were going strongly, and McDougall found the net. The Rangers now settled down, Miller opening the game out, but they were soon forced back, and Campbell had the feet knocked from him when he had beaten all but Howden. McNicol however shortly afterwards put on the equaliser, and for a time the Rangers were hard pressed. Result – A draw – 2 goals each
