Davie Ness Benefit Match - Bad weather spoiled the attendance at Davie Nesss benefit match at Firhill Park last night. The crowd was not in keeping with the worth of such a grand winger, and if he has not got a guarantee the result must be very depressing to him after the services he has rendered to Thistle, In a game in which neither side too risks, Thistle were the first to come into the limelight, F Pope supplying fine touches to his partner and Simpson. The centre gave Dawson in the first five minutes an opportunity of showing what a fine custodian he is. Getting the ball 20 yards out, he delivered a thunderbolt, but Dawson made a tiger-like spring and clutched the ball. This save put pep into the rangers, and they attacked in vigorous fashion, Brown sending over the bar. The first goal fell to the Thistle, Torbet beating Purdon, crossed for Simpson to head home. Nicholson got the equaliser following a corner taken by McMillan. Twelve minutes from the interval, McGown left the field and did not return till the change of ends.
