Match Trivia

At Partick before 2000 spectators. The Rangers started the game and both ends were quickly visited, Lennie on the one side and Connor on the other, put in most of the aggressive work, but finishing all round was poor. From a corner the ball found its way to Walker, who headed first goal for the Rangers. Within a couple of minutes Massie equalised, and the Thistle playing up irresistible style Crawford notched a second. Towards the interval Lennie almost scored, Wilkie saving by conceding a corner. Halftime – Thistle 2: Rangers 1. By the way the Rangers started it was evident that they meant rubbing off the adverse score if possible. In the first minute Walker and Speedie shot well for goal, and then the play became more forcible, Lennie having to retire injured. Speedie was now showing to advantage and scored a fine goal. A few minutes later Start sent in a long shot which beat Wilkie, the keeper fumbling the ball badly. Crawford was doing good work for the Thistle, and from his cross Connor equalised with a really fine effort. A well-contested game ended – A draw 3 goals each
