Match Trivia
Played at last night at Inchview, Whiteinch, before a good attendance. The Rangers another recruit at centre half Jackson of Newton Thistle. The Thistle kicked off with a strong sin in their eyes. Both goals were attacked, but as time wore on the Rangers were palpably having the best of the play, and the home defence was severly taxed. ‘Fraser’ got off, and having eluded Smith, sent in a fine cross, but none of his brother forwards being up, the effort was lost. Miller was doing most of the Rangers shooting, and although some of his work was not very deadly, still the Thistle defence was decidedly lucky. From a breakaway the Thistle forced a corner, from which Lamont scored the first goal. This score infused a lively spirit into the game, and play was even till the interval. Halftime Thistle 1: Rangers 0. On resuming each goal was threatened in turn. Spence negotiated a splendid shot from Smith and at the other end, Dickie stalled off a beauty from ‘Fraser’. After a beat passing run, Turnbull scored for the Rangers. Miller put on a second, and a minute later Lamont scored again for the home team. This was all the scoring, play throughout the second half being very equally divided. Result – A draw 2 goals each.
