Match Trivia
The Orion had the Rangers, the famous Glasgow combination, as their guests at Castefield. The Rangers were well represented, the only alternations on their usual League team being that Burns took the place of Mitchell at half-back, the latter having been hurt in a recent match, and Miller was substituted for Barker. Throughout the first period both elevens played exceedingly well, notwithstanding the slippery nature of the soil. Three goals to nil in favour of the Rangers was the score at half-time, and it evidently gave a very accurate criterion of the play. An interesting feature of the game was the clever goalkeeping which Edwards, the Orion’s custodian exhibited. Towards the close of the first period, a change took place in the Orion front rank; Gleag, who occupied the centre, was removed to the inside right, and Thom stepped into the breach. The Rangers for the most part, were the superior eleven, and the four goals which they which they scored in the second half were justly earned. Just before the close of the match, the Orion played with great pluck, and the result was that the Rangers had to concede them two points. The game terminated :- Rangers 7; Orion 2.
