Match Trivia
The Rangers by special request opened Motherwell’s new field. There was a large attendance of spectators. The Rangers set the ball in motion, and for a short time looked as if they were going to carry every time before them, within three minutes scoring a first goal, but the appearance of Charters and Masson raised the hopes of the Motherwell men, who had been holding out with only nine players. Things now assumed a different aspect, and it was only the hardest of hard lines prevented them from scoring on several occasions. The Rangers before halftime was called had raised their score to 3 goals, each point being hardly earned. In the second half Motherwell pulled themselves up, and generally had the best of the play and by the time that the whistle sounded had equalised matters, making the result a draw – 3 goals each
