Match Trivia
At Fir Park, Motherwell, estimated attendance 7000, drawings (gate and stand) £175. It was a very even game in the first half, both goalkeepers having plenty of work, bit it was not until near halftime that Hill managed to get a centre from Stewart past Rennie. In the second half Rangers opened with a goal, which was struck off for some infringement. But immediately following McPherson scored. Robertson soon gave the home team a second goal, but this was practically the last of Motherwell in the game. In the closing half hour the Rangers forwards were irresistible. Campbell got a second goal, and McPherson followed with a third, Bennett scored a fourth point, and two minutes from the finish Smith added a fifth.
