Match Trivia

This important game at Greenock on Saturday resulted in a win for Rangers, who accordingly tie with Celtic for the League championship. Considerable interest was taken in the match, and there were present some 5000 spectators. Heavy rain fell throughout the forenoon, and the ground was heavy. Rangers pressed at the start, and within two minutes Speedie receiving from Craig, crashed the ball past Robertson. Ten minutes later Kyle got possession and footing his way cleverly past all opposition scored a second goal for Rangers. The visitors continued to be the more dangerous lot, and Robertson had several difficult shots to negotiate. Morton played briskly and well in the open, but when they got near goal they quite failed to make and impression. Close on the interval Kyle twisted his ankle, and was unable to resume. Morton started the second half in determined fashion, and for some time the Rangers goal was seriously threatened. Afterwards play was pretty even, the Rangers apparently being content to retain their lead, and a somewhat disappointing game ended as follows - Rangers 2: Morton 0
