Match Trivia

Owing to the wretched weather, which prevailed, only a moderate company assembled to witness the match at Middlesbrough, the attendance not numbering more than 2000. The Rangers, who had the better of the exchanges in the opening half, gave a brilliant display of football, but they could not score before the interval. On one occasion McFarlane saved a penalty taken by Robertson. After chance of ends the play was fast and exciting, and at the end of 20 minutes Currie scored for Middlesbrough. This lead the home side looked like retaining, but in the last minute Speedie equalised with a grand shot. The match thus ended in a draw of one goal each
