Match Trivia

The Rangers opened Their Easter visit to Belfast yesterday, where they met the Linfield at Cliftonville before 7000 spectators. The weather was fine but the ground was in poor order. Campbell started for the visitors and from a succession of scrimmages in front of the home goal that player scored with a clever shot five minutes after operations began. The next minute McPherson added a second point. Playing with scientific precision and splendid combination, the Scots simply waltzed round their opponents, and at halftime were leading by six to nil. In the second half they took matters easy and added two points, Linfield scoring once off Kirkwood. Result – Rangers 8 goals; Linfield 1.
