Match Trivia
The Glasgow combination paid their first visit to Stirling, last night and tackled the tackled the King’s Park. There was a poor attendance of spectators. The opening exchanges were much in favour of the visitors, the home team rarely getting within shooting distance of McKenzie. Lay afterwards opened up, and the game became more exciting. The ball was travelling rapidly from end to end, and several corners, which the Rangers got, were fraught with considerable danger to the King’s Park goal. A minute or two before halftime the Rangers scored rather unexpectedly from a foul, the first half ending – Rangers 1: King’s Park 0. King’s Park opened the second period in dashing style, and but for the grand defence would have scored at the start. The equaliser however, was not long in coming, Machar sending the ball through from a scrimmage. A minute late the Rangers again secured the ascendancy, and King’s Park again nearly equalised. Blyth added a third shortly after, and slack play by the home backs allowed the Light Blues to score again. McPherson added a fifth. Result – Rangers 6 goals: King’s Park 1 goal.
