Match Trivia
Played at Kilmarnock before an attendance that realised £140 at the gates and £20 at the stands. Rangers by the cleverness of their forward play, the excellent work of their halves, and the sound play of their defence practically monopolised the play in the first half, and scored goals through Smith, Kyle and Spiers. Early in the second half Moffat of Kilmarnock, converted a penalty, and after Spiers headed the ball into the net off a beautiful cross from Smith, the homesters sorely troubled the Rangers defence. Kilmarnock at this point were most unlucky not to score, and were certainly value for a goal or two. Nearing the close Rangers again asserted their superiority, and Rankine capped a beautiful run by scoring a fifth goal. Result – Rangers 5: Kilmarnock 1.
