Match Trivia
This game was played on Rugby Park, Kilmarnock before fully 3000 spectators. Some surprises were expected in the composition of the home team, but that did not come off, the effort to capture new man having proved abortive. There was however a big surprise in the result as no one imagined that Killie would manage to draw with the Ibrox Park team. The visitors had rather the best of the opening exchanges, but Killie played hard, and after pressing for a time they scored the first goal, Gibson doing the needful from a pass by Findlay. Even play followed. A free kick was given to Rangers and Smith scored the ball going into the net untouched. At halftime the teams stood level - 1 goal each. The second half was brimful of exciting incidences. Both goals were early assailed and Banks put Killie in the ascendance after ten minutes play. Rangers were somewhat unsettled by this reverse, and did not show to advantage, while the homesters plodded on in a dour and determined fashion, and looked like winning. However the Light Blues made a desperate attempt, and 15 minutes from the finish they equalised in a lively scrimmage. Killie were pressing hard when the whistle blew. Final result – Kilmarnock 2: Rangers 2
